Steve Christoforidis - Hellenic Cup

The Hurstville City Minotaurs are pleased to announce that they will be participating along with seven other Greek football teams including Sydney Olympic, Canterbury Marrickville Olympic, Belmore Hercules, Gladesville Ryde Magic, Stanmore Hawks, Wollongong Olympic and Liverpool Olympic for the Hellenic Football Cup to be played at Lidcombe Oval on Sunday the 6th of March 2011 in memory of Steve Christoforidis.

 

There will also be other entertainment on the day as well as an exhibition game between Sydney Olympic Old boys and Canterbury Marrickville Old Boys.

This day is a legacy in the memory of Steve Christoforidis but also thousands of fellow Greek/Australians who have battled and lost there lives to a silent but deadly killer of males/females in Australia today, “Mental Illness”.

All proceeds made on the day will go to help with the fight against mental illness the institutions include beyond blue, St Euphemia Greek Orthodox College, All Saints, St Spirydon to help with counselling youths and the Greek aged care facility To Elliniko Spiti to help with counselling families.

Gates open at 9am on Sunday 6th of March 2011
Entry $12 for adults, kids under 12 free

 

 

 

Hurstville City Minotaurs Soccer Club was established in 1985 by members of the Cretan Association of Sydney & NSW.
In our first year we started with one team competing in the “Business Comp” every Sunday morning with player-coach, Peter “The General” Sarikakis, who is still the Head Coach. Other players in our first year were James Jordan, Tony Kakis, Manuel & Michael Xanthoudakis, Con Mistridis, Michael and Bill Drossos, Chris and Con Katsimardos, just to name a few. It was called Sydney Cretan's, which later became known as Hurstville City Minotaurs. Several seasons after forming Hurstville City Minotaurs they gained admission in the seventh division of the NSW Soccer Federation in 1988....more
