HISTORY

Hurstville City Minotaurs Soccer Club was established in 1985, by Peter Sarikakis!

At the beginning, the club was supported by and represented the Cretan Community of NSW.

In later years the Cretan Association stopped their support of the club. Since then Hurstville City Minotaurs has continued to exist with support from various private sponsors   -  And the continued support and managed by Peter "The General "Sarikakis .

In our first year we started with one team competing in the “Business Comp” every Sunday morning with player-coach, Peter “The General” Sarikakis, who is still the Head Coach. Other players in our first year were James Jordan, Tony Kakis, Manuel & Michael Xanthoudakis, Con Mistridis, Michael and Bill Drossos, Chris & Con Katsimardos, Bill Stefanakis and Bill Koliopoulos, just to name a few. It was called Sydney Cretans , which later became known as Hurstville City Minotaurs. Several seasons after forming Hurstville City Minotaurs they gained admission in the seventh division of the NSW Soccer Federation in 1988.

Year after year, we progressed up through the divisions and increased in numbers and teams. We now have 20 teams, starting from u/6 (boys & girls) competing in the St George Soccer Association, to our 1st Grade competing in the NSW State League Division Two. We have teams in all the age groups, girls and ladies teams and O/35 Mens.

We have won many premierships, the most prestigious being the 1st Division Minor Premiership in 1997 and promotion to the NSW Super League.

In 2007, we won the Premiership in the State League Division Two and won promotion into NSW State League Division One in 2008. Unfortunately, the club dropped back into Division Two and just missed out on promotion again by one win in 2009 and 2010. In 2010, both grades made the grand final but only Reserve Grade managed to be crowned champions for the season.

Currently Hurstville City Minotaurs SC is a Family Club competing in St George Football Association and some special tournaments in FNSW. It comprises of boys and girls, men and women from U/6's to O/45's.

The club was formed in 1985 by Peter Sarikakis, who is still running the club in 2025 moving forward. In the 90's and afterwards the club had teams competing in the NSW Soccer Federation and the St George Soccer Association. We had a senior team which had reached "Super League" in NSW. This was one division under the NSL. We also had youth teams in FNSW from U13's to U18's in Division One. In the St George Association, we had boy's and girl's teams starting from U/6's to all age, men and women.

Hurstville City Minotaurs Club Song

Well it's a grand old team to play for,

and it's a grand old team to see,

And if, you know, your history,

It's enough to make your heart go wooooooaaaahhh,

We don't care what the 'other team' say,

What the hell do we care?

Because we always know,

That there's gonna be show,

And the Minotaurs will be there
